Peter is already on the mend!

Pete is loving all of the attention he is getting for having a broken arm. We met with the orthopedic doc this morning and it went better than expected.
Bob was going out to get a few things and he slipped on my flip flops - when I pulled out the camera he even gave me a girlie pose!
Annie bathed in the sunlight and looking every bit the angel that she is!

Annie has taken to the elmo costume and never wants to take it off! It was kind of warm on a few of those days last week.
Papa stopped over this morning to see the boy with the broken arm!
peter thoroughly enjoyed the visit!
Peter playing his DS while we waited for the doctor.
The doctor said that this was the best kind of fracture - it is right in the joint and on the growth plate but the joint is stable and it requires less intervention than most fractures - as long as Peter can stay away from physical activity! We'll see how that goes.

We opted for the removeable immobilizer rather than a plaster cast up to his shoulder. It is hot but lighter and easier to move around so he can keep range of motion in his shoulder. We will follow up every week for three weeks to be sure that the joint remains stable!

My boy goofing around! What a sweetie he was - answered all of the doctor's questions, was polite and happy. I was so very proud of him!
Auntie Meg and Molly made Peter a rice crispy cake - too cute!

Awwwwwwwww
How often does this happen - good thing we got a picture!
My little lovebugs! We are so happy that Peter got the absolute best report we could have hoped for. All of the prayers and wishes worked for him! And he is getting spoiled like crazy. My parents came over (to spoil their daughter by gardening for me) and they wrote a poem and made Peter his favorite cake. Kk had Cinisticks delivered for Peter and told him there were extras so he could have them for breakfast!
What a lucky kid!

We had a long day so I'm going to keep it short! I did promise some aunties pictures of their nephew with an update on his "injury"!

I love how Lizzie keeps her leg curled up even when she's sleeping!

Daddy and lizzie sharing a banana!

On Monday Annie came home from the babysitters exhausted - they refuse to let her sleep - poor kid! Just kidding - the babysitters are my wonderful parents and they make it so fun that she can't sleep!

Now she is trying a banana cookie! She loved it!

People are worried that Ellie is not fairly represented on the blog - please understand that although I did not end up making the blog private (just took it off of the internet connection) I still need to really watch the content with regard to Ellie. She is technically in state custody right now and we do not want to hurt our chances of adopting her. That being said - the state said that we could put pictures and minor details as long as we use discretion. I am pretty confident in my ability to do this well and once Ellie is ours you can bet that she will have as much face time as the rest of the family!

My blue eyed girl - I love seeing the kids in summer clothes!

I have no idea where my girl gets her love of bread??????

Okay - I do know but the whole butter thing is, in fact, a mystery!

Pete and I spent most of the afternoon in the doctor's office. We had three sets of x-rays and lots of consults to figure out that he has a buckle facture of the radial head and a joint effusion. I would love to explain what that means but the best I can do is give you the diagram.

The right radius runs all along the forearm or lower arm. What happened is that Peter fell so hard that the part of the bone (the head) that is in the elbow joint hit the humerus (the upper, much larger bone) and it caused a hairline fracture. The problem is that it is almost impossible to keep it immobile during diagnosis so there had already been more damage. We are going to see the ortho specialist tomorrow and will have more information. As far as a joint effusion that just means that he has abnormal fluid in his elbow which could either be his body's normal response to the break or something else!
My sweet boy is milking it for all its worth - I can't say I blame him. He wanted to talk to KK so I taught him how to text while we waited for everything to be done - what a mistake!
Annie was trying to make Peter laugh - it worked!
After Ibuprofen and a nice warm shower to get rid of all the germs from the doctor's office Pete fell asleep with Molly's body pillow propping his arm up!
Bob and I are both wiped out so I'm off to curl up on the sofa. I promise to update everyone tomorrow. In the meantime, please say a prayer for Peter that tomorow is not too difficult on him. As we all know (and love about him) Pete does not like anything that is not planned out ahead of time so these kind of trips are generally rough for him. That plus the intense pain that he is feeling make my heart break for him!

A little Late!

I always seem to be too tired to blog but so much happens that I want to keep track of. First off - if you are looking for something entertaining to watch on TV try "Table for Twelve" on TLC on Monday nights. It is a family with two sets of twins and one set of sextuplets - they live in New jersey and I just love them. So much better than Jon and Kate plus Eight!
Work is completely dedicated to Swine Flu - we are eating and breathing Swine Flu and it seems like it may be worthwhile since it looks to be moving into CT today. We have all sorts of precautions that we are taking to be preapred for a possible outbreak in CT - a little scary, I have to admit. This is when working in healthcare seems like a really bad idea!
Molly got a surprise on Friday when she got back from school - a package from her penpal - Auntie Beth.

Molly went for the small package first - she really is all girl!
Look at that smile!

Pretty pink earrings that Molly has worn everyday!

Look at that skirt - Molly was dressed for Irish Step Dancing but she could not wai to try it on!

Doing some twirls!

My gorgeous girl!

She loved making the skirt "puff" out.

Daddy found another use for Molly's skirt!
Lizzie enjoying the warm weather on Sunday!
Ellie didn't like the grass so we let her sit in the stroller so she would at least get some fresh air.

The twins!

Annie checking on Lizzie!

Poor Annie was still not feeling great but she still wanted to be outside.

Paging Doctor Harding - Wheeler!

What a cutie pie! Peter woke up a few nights ago and came out to tell us that he was worried because his heart stopped beating. We were relieved to find that he still had a steady and strong heartbeat but Annie keeps checking just to make sure!
I'm off to melt in my bed! More pictures tomorrow!

I'm posting pictures of Abby's birthday -lots of pictures! She was gracious and happy all day and seemed to have a wonderful day. Today she came over to play with Molly and told us all about all of her presents and when she was going to play with each one but she has one burning question from yesterday..............How did Auntie Ann make the pond for the ducks to swim in on her cake????? As usual, I am in awe of my goddaughter - she makes me so proud everyday - Just a few things we love about Abby - her infectious laugh, her enormous smile, her "Abby" accent, inquisitive nature, love of all things girlie, and mostly her JOY - she is so full of life that I am overwhelmed! We are SO HAPPY THAT ABAIGEAL WAS BORN AND WE CAN'T WAIT FOR ALL THE DAYS WE GET TO SPEND WITH HER IN THE COMING YEARS!
