ANNIE WALKING TO MOMMY!
First a little update on Karla. She ended up having to stay in the hospital for another night tonight and is still awaiting word on what exactly is happening with her knee other than an infection on her bursa (?). Tonight she seemed a bit more chipper on the phone so I am hoping that that means that the antibiotics are working better and her body is getting back to normal. The odd thing that Bob and I were talking about at dinner is that we didn't realize how much contact we have with Pat and Karla on a regular basis. There were about 5 times this weekend when I would have reached for the phone to call Karla had I not been holding her daughter in my arms - thus reminding me about why I could not call her. Question about the soccer game on Saturday, met someone in Big Y and couldn't remember her name or how I knew her but knew Karla would know who it was, needed a playdate for Molly on Saturday, needed to make plans for Tyler and Molly's birthday parties, the list goes on and on and come to think of it - I probably annoy the crap out of of Karla on a regular basis! Either way - keep her in your prayers tonight because we need our sister-in-law, friend and auntie back on her feet soon and we hate to see her feeling bad!
The other update - is that Annie Bananie is walking like crazy and loving life with her new view of the world. Our sweet baby looks so old now as she toddles around in shoes and socks (okay - I still need to deal with the whole buying appropriate shoes thing). Weird note on this one - I forgot the whole change that takes place when they leave the baby crawling phase and enter the walking phase. They need shoes (yuck), clothes now have to be the correct length (no more fudging by sticking big slippers on their feet that keep the long hem up)and they fall, stumble, bump their heads, and get bloody lips ALL THE TIME! She is a walking headache now and for a baby that never cried or whimpered it is killing us to have to sweep her up after a bump or bruise and hear her wail!
We had the Saint Elizabeth Seton Outdoor Mass and Picnic today and, horror of horrors, I forgot my camera! I'm still going to blog about it because it was such a nice morning! We took the 2 babies in strollers and snagged some chairs in the shade for the mass. We sat next to people we go to church with every weekend so it was a treat to be with them in the less formal atmosphere of being outside. This mass is also nice because we actually see people who go to other masses too - we are creatures of habit if nothing else and rarely go to any mass other than 4:30. Bob and I each held a baby in our arms and sang loudly and even danced a little bit to the very uplifting music while the big kids laughed at us until we pointed out that no one was dancing more than Fr. Stu - at that point they joined in. At lunch we ended up sitting with an older couple who marveled at our energy and how we did everything so easily with the 4 kids - we laughed later when we found out that they had raised 8 children of their own! They had lots of advice for us but the husbands was my favorite - "Kids are resilient and your job is to prepare them for the world - the world ain't perfect and you don't need to be either." Katie left tonight at 7 to go stay with Grammy and Papa for tonight and we miss her already! What a gift it was to get to spend some time with her this weekend!
I am trying to post a photo show of Annie's birthday party but have not had much success. I am posting a few videos of Annie walking so Auntie Beth can see how amazing she is! The 2nd video is one of the bumps Annie sustained tonight while walking!
The kids are headed back to school tomorrow so they were all in bed at 7:30 and Bob and I are stretched out on our new sofas -love them - looking for a good show to watch - we made a pact to be in bed at 10 tonight so that we stop complaining all day about how tired we are!
GNM - ILY!
