We just happened to be in DC for the opening night of Zoolights! IT was AMAZING!
On the way in they were selling glow in the dark wands for a dollar so we had to get everyone a wand to lead us down the path at the zoo. IT was pretty great being in the zoo after hours and getting to hear the animals at night and see the indoor exhibits at night but then to have the rest of the zoo lit up like a winter wonderland that you could walk through. The kids loved it - especially Annie!
Ready for Zoolights!
Luckily we had packed hats and mittens so we bundled everyone up and were on our way!
Lizzie loved her wand!
Ellie could not figure out what the heck we were doing walking around the zoo in the dark!
Molly was embarrassed by her hat but the big kids had so much fun! They were runnning from thing to thing and yelling for us to come see the next thing - it was the BEST time!
We must have watched the dancing panda for 30 minutes - the kids thought it was the greatest thing ever!
The dancing Panda in a snowglobe.
The zoo is over 4 miles one way - this was the way back! We were exhausted!
Molly in front of the flamingos!
Sleeping angels with Daddy - they were practically comatose after all the walking we did!
Molly and I were sharing a bed - it was very difficult for this Mama to get some space to sleep.
Peter had a bed to himself - he is impossible to sleep with and it was his turn for a bed so he took full advantage!
Brunch in footies - does life get any better. The whole hotel staff came over to see the kids in their pajamas running around and eating brunch. They gave them candy canes and extra fish food that morning - it was so much fun!
My favorite picture of the trip - Annie and Lizzie sleeping together like two little puzzle pieces!
After brunch in footies and packing up the hotel room we headed to Leesburg, Virginia to visit Auntie Courtney, Aidan, Claire and Ryan. They moved from Rocky Hill 5 years ago but it is amazing how strong our bonds still are. Aidan and Peter didn't miss a beat and Claire and Molly ran upstairs into Claire's room and never stopped giggling. Courtney and I sat at the kitchen table gabbing away for hours and when it was time to go we all cried!
Ryan just got his glasses and looked adorable! He has quite a bit of energy and was SO good with the babies! I could just eat him up! "Auntie Kasey, that's alot of babies you got there!"
Court is the BEST hostess ever and always has been. She had grinders and chips and pretzels, pickles, fruit cut up - it was quite the spread and the kids felt like kings and queens - of course, they ate really fast and then went back to playing. At one point Bob took all of the kids to the park and Court and I got to sit with a cup of coffee and just chat. It made me love and miss Courtney even more! Just goes to show that no matter how much time passes good friends are irreplaceable.
The boys!
Uncle SpongeBob and Claire-Bear
Auntie Court and the boys!
This was the last straw for Aidan and Peter - we do not want pictures - we want to play!
Rondo - love this dog!
Uncle SpongeBob and the girls!
Claire and Molly - these girls acted like they saw each other yesterday - Molly cried for a half hour in the car because she wanted Claire to live closer!
Lizzie is the MOST uncooperative kid ever when it comes to pictures!
Trying to get Lizzie in a pictures!
Annie loved Aidan - what's not to love about my godson?
Auntie Kasey and her amazing godson! He is growing up to be such a handsome, brave, smart little boy! I could not love him more!
Claire and Peter - Claire has got to be the most loving little girl! I wanted to sneak her into our car and take he home with us!
The Troinano kids freezing but standing outside saying goodbye. Notice that Court has converted them all from their New York state of mind - Poor Gary never stood a chance! All of the kids love the Celtics and the Red Sox! Court is doing a phenomenal job raising these kids - they are such sweet kids with such big loving hearts! After this we began the six hour ride home. The kids were tired so they slept and watched movies on and off and Bob and I gushed about how wonderful our kids were and how much fun we had on our trip with them. It was a wonderful car ride home! The next day we had visitors at the door from the moment we woke up - everyone missed the kids! I love going away but I also love returning home and being with the people who love us! Ellie's birthday was the day we got home from DC so she alos had lots of visitors waiting to say Happy Birthday. Those pictures will have to wait for another day - Santa has alot of work to do! GNM - ILY!
